Brilliant natural Pineau d'Aunis from the lieu-dit "Le Briseau," which translates roughly to "the shatterer," a reference to the impenetrable layer of solid flint which forms the subsoil in the vineyard. 

On the nose, black cherry, anise, garrigue and black pepper. Light-bodied in the mouth, but zippy acid and a bit more grip expected from Pineau d'Aunis. A flinty minerality and green pepper on the finish. Mere hint of barnyard lends additional dimension.
