Dom. de la Pépière Muscadet Clisson 2023

100% Melon de Bourgogne. Aromas of green apple and citrus peel, with a rich leesy quality. Round and ripe on the palate, while retaining freshness and acidity. A beautiful example of how old-vine Melon can develop after years in the bottle. 

The Clisson bottling comes from a 50-100-year-old section of vines in Pepière's core vineyard in the cru of Clisson near the winery. This is the first Pépière site to be harvested thanks to the very poor, sandy, no-clay soils. The farming is certified-biodynamic. All vineyard work including harvest is manual. The whole bunches (rare in Muscadet) are gently pressed and the juice settled naturally in steel tanks overnight. The must is fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and a small amount of sulfur. The wine is moved by gravity to underground cement tanks, where it ages on the lees for 2 years. It is bottled without filtration or any additional sulfur.
