Skin-contact Garnacha Blanco from Assis Suriol, in the village of Grabuac, Penedes. Partly aged in amphorae made from clay from Suriol’s own estate. Wild fermentation and maceration during 5 days with the skins. Pressing and spontaneous malolactic fermentation, then several months of aging in chestnut vats, underground concrete tanks and amphorae made with Suriol’s own clay. Bottled in June without filtering, fining or adding sulfites.
Hazy golden aspect, toasted nuts and honey on the nose with dried citrus peel. Dried stone fruits and honeydew melon on the palate with gently assertive tannins. Terrific acidity keeps this wine fresh and lively. Would love to meet some grilled sardines or Spanish Mackerel.
