Giraudon Côte Roannaise Rouge "Tentation"

100% old-vine Gamay St. Romain, a smaller berried variant of Gamay with a high skin to juice ratio. The vines are planted on granitic soils and the grapes are harvested by hand. Partial carbonic maceration, with destemming of 2/3 of the fruit. The wine is fermented and aged for 6 to 10 months in concrete tanks. Only 25-30mg/L total sulfite at bottling.  

Highly drinkable, with bright aromas of violets and berry fruit (blueberries, red and black currants), along with notes of sweet spice. Its medium body and fine tannins allow for a slight chill.
