Thibault Touraine Gamay "Les Grandes Vignes" 2019

From winemaker Marie Thibault in Azay-le-Rideau, a lesser known environ of the Touraine appellation. Les Grandes Vignes is 100% Gamay from 50+ year old vines grown on silex with a very long maceration time (10 months) and décuvage in July.

Dark plummy fruit on the nose, somewhat meaty and gamy. A gamy Gamay. Notes of espresso and dried thyme. Intriguing and complex on the palate, Marie likes to say that she makes this wine like a Barolo, with long macerations and extended aging before bottling. Certified Organic, no sulfur added.
